The Book of Micah is one of the minor prophets in the Old Testament. Through the prophet Micah, God warned the people of Israel and Judah about their sins, called them to repent, and promised to restore them. Chapter 1: God’s Judgement on Israel & Judah

The Book of Micah begins with God’s warning to Israel and Judah. Here, we can see that people had turned away from god, worshipped idols, and continued living in sin. Because they refused to follow him, God declared that judgement was coming upon Samaria and Jerusalem. 

Micah was deeply saddened by this message. He cared for his people and knew that they would suffer if they did not repent and return to God. This chapter reminds us that God calls his people to turn away from sin and follow him faithfully. 

Chapter 2: Judgement on Those Who Oppress Others

In Micah 2, God speaks against people who cheated others, who took their land, and treated the poor unfairly. Many of the rich and powerful people were using their position to harm innocent people instead of helping them

After speaking about judgment, Micah shares a message of hope. He describes a future time when people from every nation will come to worship God.  There will be peace instead of war, and God will restore his people and establish his everlasting Kingdom. 

Chapter 5: The Promise of the Messiah

Here, the prophet gives an amazing prophecy that the promised Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. This prophecy was later fulfilled through the birth of Jesus Christ. Here, Micah also explains that the Messiah will care for his people like a shepherd and bring lasting peace. 

Chapter 6: What Does God Require?

In this chapter, God reminds his people of all the good things he has done for them and asks why they have turned away from him. Micah shares a well-known verse that explains what God truly wants from his people, which is ‘to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.’ Micah 6:8

From this verse, we can see that God is not looking only for religious practices, but he wants his people to live with justice, kindness, and humility every day.

The book of Micah ends with a message of hope. Even though the people had sinned, God promised that he would not abandon them forever. Micah praises God because he forgives sins, shows compassion, and remind faithful to his promises.
