The Book of Psalms, also known as Zabur, is the eighteenth book of the Bible. It is a collection of Hebrew poetry and songs that express praise, thanksgiving, prayers, and reflections on various aspects of life in relation to God. The Psalms are generally divided into five books:
- Book 1 (Psalms 1-41): Focuses on life’s struggles and God’s mercy. Many of these psalms are attributed to David.
- Book 2 (Psalms 42-72): Centers on God’s glory and the salvation of Israel. It includes psalms by David and other authors.
- Book 3 (Psalms 73-89): Emphasizes God’s sovereignty and reflects on Israel’s history. Several psalms here are attributed to David.
- Book 4 (Psalms 90-106): Highlights God’s faithfulness and history. Psalms from Moses and other writers are included.
- Book 5 (Psalms 107-150): Focuses on thanksgiving, praise, and God’s majesty. Psalms from various authors are featured.
